About

sabrina and matej working together on The Focus Journal

WHY

We believe the way we spend our days is how we live our lives. Work is a big part of our days and the way we work is therefore the way we live our lives. Work should be a pleasurable part of our lives and not something we dread.

THE MISSION

We are on a mission to make work feel good. Through research and observation we are building our pool of knowledge on the new work environments and relationships. This knowledge allows us to create and curate a meticulous selection of products designed to make work feel like the good part of life.

WHO

The idea for The Focus Journal started at L’Atelier Vancouver Coworking by Sabrina Chammas and Matej Rodela. Our primary goal was to create a comfortable place for the coworkers, but we soon wanted to do more. This is why we created and designed with the help of the coworking community our first product - the Focus Journal. After a successful Kickstarter campaign we are now set on creating more products and grow our pool of knowledge.

THE CRITERIA

  • High quality
  • Functional
  • Durable
  • Ethically sourced / eco friendly (when we can)
  • Excellent design
  • Make you feel better when you're working or traveling
  • Have an interesting story

MORE THAN PRODUCTS

There’s something to be said about that feeling you get when you’re in the flow, and we believe that the products, people and places that make up this shifting ecosystem are integral to this state.

Now, more than ever, we are seeing deep shifts in how our working environment takes shape. Companies are rethinking the office space, while freelancers, entrepreneurs and remote workers are congregating in coworking spaces and coffee shops.

The Focus Journal seeks to contribute to this modern working culture by building a sense of community around these very things. The products you choose to consume say a lot about your beliefs and values, who you are and how you perceive the world. Through our selection of products and research on work culture, we wish to bring unity to this scattered digital space and guide the conversation around how we can all #makeworkbetter.
